Fireworks & Games Night - 3rd November 2018

Our next social event is the Fireworks and Games night, on Saturday 3rd November from 6.30pm.

Although this is aimed to include junior members and their families, non-members are also welcome too. Under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult.

Leaflets advertising the event can be found on the bar and coffee counter. Hotdogs, mulled wine, glowsticks and sparklers will be on sale. No need to book or put your name on a list, just turn up!

There will be a variety of giant games, including Jenga and Connect 4, to enjoy.

Finally, if you do have any giant/patio-sized games you can lend the club for the night, please let us know. Similarly, I still need a couple of volunteers to help serve hotdogs/mulled wine or behind the bar etc., so if you can help out for a few hours, that would be great!

HLTC membership fee review for 2019

Dear members,

As mentioned at the recent AGM, we have been carrying out a review of membership fees and benefits at the club. We have drawn up a set of proposals and would welcome your feedback on them. There are 3 documents attached to this article:

1. An introduction setting out the objectives of the review
2. A summary of the proposals
3. A page of questions to facilitate feedback (spare paper copies are available in the clubhouse)

Nothing has been decided yet so, if you have comments on any of the proposals, please let us know via the contact form or in person by 31 October.

Our aim is to finalise any changes so that they can be incorporated in the membership renewal packs for next year. The current membership fees can be found on the membership form here:

Weald League Mixed Doubles Tournament - 7th October

We are hosting the Weald league’s end of season mixed doubles tournament on Sunday 7 October. This means that all 7 courts will be needed for most of the day and certainly from 9.30 until about 4pm or so. There will therefore be no Sunday club play on that day.

Everyone is welcome to come and watch the players from various local clubs (Simon Rosendale and Alison Blay will be representing HLTC) and join us for lunch and/or tea. Help with serving food and drinks for an hour would be very welcome.

Thai Evening - 6th October

HLTC Defibrillator Project Update

We are delighted to announce that HLTC has been awarded £1000 from Tesco's Bags of Help initiative to pay for our defibillator. We are now in the process of acquiring one which we hope will be installed in the Clubhouse soon. It will be easy to use, with no need for training, as opening it starts a series of voice instructions on what to do, and the 'shocking' process is automatic (and it won't shock at all if the conditions aren't right).

Thanks to all who voted for us!

The event is open to anyone thinking of trying something new, or picking up where they left off! All you need  to do is register for one of the session on the Clubspark event available at this link

Our coaches Justin and Oliver will be running sessions for juniors in the morning (9:30am - 12:30pm) and adults in the afternoon (2pm - 5pm).

The morning will be split into three one-hour sessions:
6-8 years: 9:30am - 10:30am
9-12 years: 10:30am - 11:30am
12+ years: 11:30am - 12:30pm

The afternoon will be split into three one-hour taster sessions, ideal for people new to the sport or who haven't picked up a racquet in a long time. We have some racquets available should you not have your own. Those of you who would like to join in with our members and see our facilities are also welcome to reserve a place for the free play session (running in parallel to the coaching taster sessions) via the event link. There are limited spaces available for each of the coaching sessions so please sign up and book to avoid disappointment! Our members will be providing tea and cakes after 3pm, as is club tradition!

There is a reduction on membership fees available exclusively on the day for new members.
